Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the Smart Remote FireStick TV mobile application (the “App,” “Smart Remote FireStick TV,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use it to discover, connect to, and control a compatible Fire TV device.

Information we process

Local network and television information

To find and connect to Fire TV, the App may process local IP addresses, MAC addresses when available, device and service names, model information, availability, and Bonjour service information. Discovery uses your local Wi-Fi network. The most recently connected TV details may be saved in iOS preferences to support reconnection. This information is used for app functionality and is not uploaded to a server operated by us.

Pairing credentials and preferences

When Fire TV authorizes the App, its pairing token and device-certificate fingerprint are stored locally in Apple Keychain, only on your device, so the App can authenticate and detect an unexpected certificate change. Settings such as language and haptic-feedback preference are stored locally using iOS preferences.

Remote commands and text input

Button presses, trackpad gestures, app-launch requests, and text you choose to send are transmitted directly to the selected Fire TV over your local network. We do not receive or store this content on a developer-operated server. Avoid entering passwords or other sensitive information into a TV field you do not trust.

Microphone and voice commands

Voice Remote requests microphone access only when you choose to use it. While the listening screen is active, microphone audio is converted on your Apple device and streamed directly to the selected Fire TV over your local Wi-Fi network so Fire TV can process your spoken command. The App does not send that audio to a developer-operated server, use it for advertising or analytics, or save a recording after the voice session ends.

Purchase information

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The App receives product, transaction-verification, and entitlement status needed to unlock Premium. We do not receive your full payment-card or Apple Account credentials.

Advertising and consent information

For users without Premium, the App uses Google Mobile Ads to display adaptive banner ads and App Open ads. Google’s User Messaging Platform is used to request and manage advertising consent where required. Depending on your region, consent choices, device settings, and Google’s configuration, Google may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device or app identifiers, diagnostics, performance data, advertising data, and interactions with ads or the App. We do not request precise location for advertising.

If the App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown, the advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used only when you authorize tracking in iOS. If you deny that permission, ads may still be requested, but Google states that the Mobile Ads SDK does not include the IDFA in those ad requests. Google may still use other app- or developer-bounded identifiers, subject to applicable consent and platform settings.

Analytics and crash diagnostics

The App initializes Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics when their production configuration is available. Firebase Analytics may process app interactions, device and app information, identifiers, and approximate technical information to help us understand feature usage. Crashlytics processes crash stack traces, relevant application state, device and operating-system information, app version, build number, SDK transport metadata, and related diagnostics to help identify and fix stability problems.

Our telemetry is intentionally limited to operational events and sanitized error details. We do not intentionally include TV names, local IP or MAC addresses, remote commands, keyboard text, pairing tokens, certificate fingerprints, URLs, or a developer-defined user ID in Analytics or Crashlytics events.

How information is used

• Discover, pair with, and reconnect to compatible TVs.
• Deliver remote-control commands, text, trackpad input, app-launch requests, and voice audio directly to your Fire TV.
• Remember preferences and maintain secure pairing credentials.
• Verify purchases, restore entitlements, and remove ads for Premium users.
• Request and manage advertising consent, display banner and App Open ads to eligible free users, measure ads, and help prevent advertising fraud.
• Measure feature usage and diagnose crashes or stability problems.
• Protect the App, prevent abuse, comply with law, and resolve support requests.

Sharing and third parties

We do not receive payment for selling your personal information. Google’s processing for personalized or targeted advertising may be considered “sharing,” “selling,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws. Information may be processed by the following parties only as needed for the described functions and subject to your available choices:

We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or respond to a valid legal request.

Your choices and controls

• Advertising consent: when required for your region, use Settings → Privacy Choices in the App to review or change the options made available through Google’s consent form.
• iOS tracking permission: you can allow or deny tracking when iOS presents the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and later review the setting under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Denying tracking does not necessarily remove ads, but it prevents the Mobile Ads SDK from sending the IDFA in ad requests.
• Pairing data: use Settings → Forget Paired Devices to remove saved pairing tokens and certificate fingerprints from the App.
• Subscription: use Apple’s subscription-management interface to view, change, or cancel a Premium subscription.
• Local access: you can revoke Local Network access in iOS Settings. TV discovery and control will stop working.
• Microphone access: you can allow or deny microphone access when requested and revoke it later in iOS Settings. Voice Remote will stop working, while non-voice remote controls remain available.

Retention and deletion

We do not maintain developer-operated user accounts or a cloud database of your Fire TV commands. Voice audio is not retained by the App after a voice session ends. The most recently connected TV details remain in local iOS preferences, and pairing tokens and certificate fingerprints remain in Keychain, until you use Forget Paired Devices or they are otherwise removed through device or system management.

Apple, Google, GitHub, and other service providers determine retention for information they process under their own policies. You can use the controls described above and contact the relevant provider for requests concerning information held by that provider.

Security

Pairing tokens and Fire TV certificate fingerprints are stored using Apple Keychain. After the initial on-screen PIN pairing, the App requires the saved certificate fingerprint on reconnect and reports unexpected certificate changes. Fire TV communication is device-local; use the App only on a private Wi-Fi network you trust and keep your Apple device and Fire TV software updated.

Children’s privacy

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly operate accounts for or directly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us through a support request, contact us so we can address it.

International processing

Apple, Google, and GitHub may process information in countries other than where you live. Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable safeguards.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App, its third-party services, or legal requirements change. The effective date and version at the top of this page identify the current policy. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or its App Store listing when appropriate.
