Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how the Smart Remote Roku TV mobile application (the “App,” “Smart Remote Roku TV,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use it to discover, connect to, and control a compatible Roku streaming player or Roku TV.

Information we process
Local network and television information
To find compatible devices, the App sends SSDP discovery requests on your local network and may perform a time-limited scan of private IPv4 addresses on your current local subnet. Candidate devices are contacted through Roku External Control Protocol (ECP) on port 8060 and are shown only after responding as a Roku device.
During this process, the App handles the local IP address, device name, model, device identifier reported by Roku, and availability status. This Roku device information is used for app functionality and is not included in the analytics events that we define or uploaded to a server operated by us.
Saved device and preferences
The last selected Roku device—including its local IP address, name, model, and device identifier—and settings such as language and haptic-feedback preference are stored locally using iOS preferences. Roku ECP does not provide a pairing token to this App.
Remote commands and text input
Button presses and text you choose to send are transmitted directly to the selected Roku device over your local network. We do not receive or store this content on a developer-operated server. Roku OS or the channel active on your TV may process text after it reaches the device under its own practices. Avoid entering passwords or other sensitive information into a TV field you do not trust.
Installed channels
The App requests the installed-channel list and channel icons directly from the selected Roku device so it can display and launch them. We do not upload your channel list to a developer-operated server.
Purchase information
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The App receives product, transaction-verification, and entitlement status needed to unlock Premium. We do not receive your full payment-card or Apple Account credentials.
Advertising and consent information
For users without Premium, the App integrates Google Mobile Ads and Google’s User Messaging Platform. Depending on your region, consent choices, device settings, and Google’s configuration, Google may process information such as IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device identifiers, diagnostics, performance data, advertising data, and interactions with ads or the App. We do not request precise location for advertising.
Analytics and crash diagnostics
The App integrates Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. When Firebase is configured in a distributed build, Analytics automatically processes certain app interactions, device and app information, identifiers, and approximate technical information. We also send limited operational events such as whether discovery, connection, channel launch, purchase, restore, and ad lifecycle operations succeeded or failed.
Our custom analytics and diagnostic events deliberately exclude Roku IP addresses, device names, channel names, remote-control keys, keyboard text, URLs, and developer-defined user IDs. Crashlytics may process crash stack traces, relevant application state, device and operating-system information, app version, build number, installation identifiers, and related diagnostics to identify and fix stability problems.

How information is used
- Discover, connect to, and reconnect to compatible Roku devices.
- Deliver remote-control commands and text input.
- Display and launch channels installed on the selected Roku device.
- Remember preferences and the last selected device.
- Verify purchases, restore entitlements, and remove ads for Premium users.
- Request and manage advertising consent and display ads to eligible free users.
- Measure feature usage and diagnose crashes or stability problems.
- Protect the App, prevent abuse, comply with law, and resolve support requests.

Your choices and controls
- Advertising choices: when required, use Settings → Privacy Choices in the App to review available consent options. Device-level advertising and tracking settings are managed in iOS.
- Scope of Privacy Choices: this control manages the advertising consent options made available by Google for your region. It is not a switch for local Roku traffic and may not disable all analytics or crash diagnostics.
- Saved device: use Settings → Forget Saved Devices to remove the last selected Roku device from the App.
- Subscription: use Apple’s subscription-management interface to view, change, or cancel a Premium subscription.
- Local access: you can revoke Local Network access in iOS Settings. TV discovery and control will stop working.

Retention and deletion
We do not maintain developer-operated user accounts or a cloud database of your remote commands, text input, or installed-channel list. The last selected device remains locally until you use Forget Saved Devices, remove the App, or it is otherwise removed through device or system management.
Apple, Google, Roku, GitHub, and any channel active on your TV determine retention for information they process under their own policies. You can use the controls described above and contact the relevant provider for requests concerning information held by that provider.

Security
Communication is limited to the Roku device you select on the local network. Roku ECP uses device-local HTTP and does not provide end-to-end encryption. Use the App only on a private Wi-Fi network you trust, keep your devices updated, and configure Roku’s “Control by mobile apps” setting appropriately.

Children’s privacy
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. We do not operate App accounts or knowingly seek personal information from children. Advertising, analytics, and diagnostics providers may process limited information as described above. If you believe a child has provided information to us through a support request, contact us so we can address it.

International processing
Apple, Google, Roku, and GitHub may process information in countries other than where you live. Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable safeguards.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App, its third-party services, or legal requirements change. The effective date and version at the top of this page identify the current policy. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or its App Store listing when appropriate.
